Wine-colored, bordeaux stained, or dark and vampy. Whatever your choice of words - this Fall 2012 Makeup Trend is poppin' up everywhere. A-list celebs like Kate Bosworth and Jessica Alba have long been making this dark pout popular, and designers like Gucci, Bottega Veneta, and Yves Saint Laurent have followed suit.
To get the look, experiment with different shades. The rule of thumb tends to be that fair skin pairs great with a darker wine, olive and medium tones with more of a berry shade, while dark skin tones look great with a brown undertone. With either shade, I recommend pairing it with just a light coat of mascara on the eyes. But, if you really want to make a statement, a charcoal-colored smokey eye will certainly do the trick. Either way, don't be afraid to experiment with a little color! After all, it is just lipstick. :)

I love wine lips but have been too chicken to try it out yet. For some reason lip color makes me incredibly self conscious (I think it's because more often than not the inner half of my bottom lip loses it's color quickly and I'm left with a weird lip stripe). I need to get over it and give this a try!
ReplyDeleteI really want to try out this look! I'm super fair skinned, but I think it'll still look alright!
ReplyDeleteI love this trend right now I'm mixinh teo of my lipsticks to create this colour but I'm planning on my a wine tone lipstick or lipgloss soon. Great post :)
