Goodbye 2011 - Hello 2012

Cannot believe today is the last day of 2011. So many memories made, opportunities that blossomed, relationships that were built, and chances that were taken. Thank you all for coming along with me on this blogging journey, for the love and support you have all shown, and for the many relationships I have made through it. Cannot wait to see what 2012 has in store. Wishing you all a safe and wonderful New Years Eve, filled with lots of laughter and sparkle.

Get the Look

When I saw this look from Bee from Atlantic-Pacific, I fell in love. Who would have thought to pair a chambray shirt, plaid boy shirt, with a super classy sequin skirt? Bee is a genius
This look would have been perfect for any Christmas party, and this look could even work for a New Years Party. All you gotta do is switch out the chambray and plaid for a tres chic black tank.

Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday! I usually don't skip out on a post, but I had a super long night and decided to take some R&R. Hope ya'll understand!
I had such a wonderful time with my aunt, and it's always sad to see her go. Hopefully I can take a trip up to Palm Springs soon to pay her a visit!
On a side note, some super exciting news, I got a 4.0 this semester! My hard work payed off :) Can't believe I managed to pull that off while blogging! ha
Hope you all had a lovely week, and this weekend is CHRISTMAS! Oh my gosh. Can you believe it? I certainly can't. This morning my mom and I are off to do a Celebration of Love at our church, participating in a huge giveaway of food. Can't wait!

I am so incredibly obsessed with everything here. Like that Lauren Elan Necklace, that I saw on This Time Tomorrow. And that Reiss dress? Um, yes please
I am starting to see that my style is so all over the place. Don't you think?! I have an extreme love for all things frilly, but also am totally in love with biker boots and a super edgy pump. 
I like to think of myself as a chameleon and a jack of all trades ;)

P.S. Want to know another thing that I'm currently obsessed with?
She is going to be here until Wednesday, and I am SO excited.

'Tis the season to give...#3

The last organization I will be featuring is one that I just participated in over the weekend, called... 

This was probably one of the most fun events that I have volunteered at. 
Every year, San Jose has this huge bike build {and I mean 2500 bikes, huge!}, where volunteers everywhere come to build new bikes of all kinds for deserving children. The most amazing thing? Most of these children receiving these bikes, have never had a bike before. 

Their mission: Turning Wheels For Kids distributes bikes not only at the holiday but also year round through a number of partnerships focused on preventing childhood obesity and supporting low-income families.

Taking a break from Wednesday Wishlist to share with you a little gift guide for moms.
I know any of these items, my mom would love to have. Especially #7, the Max&Chloe monogrammed pendant to match me :) I must admit, I have not bought my mom anything yet {gasp!} So I think I may need to snatch up one of these gifts for her. What did you buy your mom? Any recommendations?
I usually buy my mom a personalized calender with pictures of her and I for every month.
She loves them.

On a side note, I have a cumulative Nutrition exam this morning, that I am so not looking forward to. So, pray for me? Thank you mucho :)

All I want for Christmas...

I am so so exhausted. It took 2 hours to drive to SF last night because we were in bumper to bumper traffic, and we totally missed dinner! I can't believe it. But the Madewell party was totally fun, and I got to meet some pretty amazing people. Will update you with pictures soon!

'Tis the season to give...#2

The second organization I am sharing with all of you today, is one that some of my classmates were apart of recently. There is one located here in San Jose, but there are also others that are available all around the U.S.

Project Linus' mission is "to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade, washable blankets lovingly created by volunteer blanket makers or 'blanketeers'."

 "Project Linus has delivered over 3,000,000 security blankets to children around the world. With nearly 400 chapters in the United States, our organization continues to supply blankets to children in need. Although Project Linus originally donated blankets to pediatric cancer patients, recipients now include any child who is seriously ill or traumatized in some way -- in other words "children in need of a big hug." 

How YOU can help....
- you can make a blanket and donate it!
- you can donate a gift card to Joann Fabrics, Michael's, or any other fabric store!
- you can simply donate a few dollars that will go towards fabric supplies to make the blankets!

How was all of your weekends?  I am definitely coming down with something. Hope it's not the flu. And hope it goes away fast! On a positive note, my Aunt just booked her trip to come here before Christmas time to be with me! Cannot wait. She lives in Palm Springs, and I don't get to see her all that often, so I am so looking forward to some girl time. She comes in on the 16th, right after my last final. What an amazing way to kick start my winter break!

Our family went and got our x-mas tree, I hosted a Family Health Night for one of my classes, had some amazing guacamole from one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, and finished the night off with some R&R with the Lord. Great weekend I must say :)

'Tis the season to give...

Since today marks the first day of December, and Holidays are in full gear, I think it is important to remember the true meaning of the season. As much as we all love presents, and wishlists like yesterday's, it is important to always remember to give back, to love, and care for those around us, in our community, and across the world. 

This month, I am going to be sharing with you all some non-profit organizations that are dear to my heart. I do a lot of community service projects with my church and my school, and have learned about some amazing organizations.

One that I recently learned about in one of my classes, is Kiva.

Kiva is a SF Bay Area based non-profit organization that started in 2004, that helps give loans to individual's or groups in other countries that have the desire to start up their own business. It uses a practice called microfinancing, which is the idea that by lending a small amount of money to an individual, they have the power to lift themselves out of poverty. What is better than that? With a loan of $25, YOU could help a person jump start their own business, and be continuously updated with the progress of that person. 

Here is one story:

George takes care of six children at home with his wife. He joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough to feed his family and have additional maize profits to educate his children. With this loan from Kiva, One Acre Fund will purchase fertilizer, seeds, and other important farming inputs to distribute to this farmer group during Kenya's next planting season in February.
