Since today marks the first day of December, and Holidays are in full gear, I think it is important to remember the true meaning of the season. As much as we all love presents, and wishlists like yesterday's, it is important to always remember to give back, to love, and care for those around us, in our community, and across the world.
This month, I am going to be sharing with you all some non-profit organizations that are dear to my heart. I do a lot of community service projects with my church and my school, and have learned about some amazing organizations.
One that I recently learned about in one of my classes, is
Kiva.
Kiva is a SF Bay Area based non-profit organization that started in 2004, that helps give loans to individual's or groups in other countries that have the desire to start up their own business. It uses a practice called microfinancing, which is the idea that by lending a small amount of money to an individual, they have the power to lift themselves out of poverty. What is better than that? With a loan of $25,
YOU could help a person jump start their own business, and be continuously updated with the progress of that person.
Here is one story:
George takes care of six children at home with his wife. He joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough to feed his family and have additional maize profits to educate his children. With this loan from Kiva, One Acre Fund will purchase fertilizer, seeds, and other important farming inputs to distribute to this farmer group during Kenya's next planting season in February.

this video.
Ever had the dream to help end world hunger and poverty? Now you can.
And in the spirit of giving, I have a super awesome giveaway for you all tomorrow, so stay tuned ;)
xoxo
